As one of the founding team members at Silven, I manage the permanent recruitment team. With more than 20 years in the industry – 15 of these in food and drink – I have a vast network of candidates and clients alike. I used to recruit for IT sales but I wasn’t passionate about it. Food, on the other hand, definitely is something I love. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and two daughters, keeping fit and taking part in cycling tours. I’ve completed the Etape du Tour three times in the Alps and Pyrenees, raising money for various charities.
Having had a few drinks with a former England cricket captain, who shall remain nameless, I later found him asleep in a hotel lift, still holding a pint!
When preparing yourself or your candidate for an interview, keep it simple. Ask yourself three things. 1. Why am I right for the job/company? 2. Why is this opportunity right for me? 3. What questions do I need to ask?
Having been with the company from the start, it’s rewarding to see how we have grown. We’ve got a fantastic, diverse range of personalities and life is never dull.
