Are you an experienced Technical Manager seeking a new and exciting opportunity? We are currently recruiting for a Technical Manager on behalf of our client, a leading food manufacturing company based in London. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the company’s products are manufactured to the highest standards, meeting or surpassing all internal and external specifications.
Job Purpose: Reporting to the Director, the Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Technical function, providing leadership to the technical team, and driving continuous improvement in food safety and quality. You will collaborate closely with operational teams, suppliers, customers, and external parties to maintain exceptional standards and cultivate a robust food safety and quality culture.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and mentor the technical team to ensure optimal performance and up-to-date technical expertise.
- Uphold and enforce the site’s HACCP system, evaluating risks and establishing controls for new processes, products, and raw materials.
- Manage technical audits and non-conformance reports, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
- Collaborate with operational teams to create and execute a comprehensive plan for enhancing food safety and quality.
- Identify and advocate for technical business improvement practices to achieve legal compliance and gain a competitive edge.
- Exceed customer expectations by maintaining stringent quality management systems.
- Act as the primary point of contact for technical and quality matters with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to develop a strong and reliable supply chain.
- Foster strong relationships with the technical representatives of key customers to instill confidence in the company’s technical standards.
- Conduct and evaluate technical projects as part of the continuous improvement program.
- Challenge and enhance hygiene programs throughout the organization.
The Person: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior technical position within high-care/high-risk food manufacturing.
- Excellent working knowledge of HACCP and BRC/Salsa Regulations.
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build and nurture customer relationships.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of developing, motivating, and guiding teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and advanced literacy skills.
- Experience in scaling up and launching multi-component products within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven project management, relationship building, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a cross-functional team to deliver projects on time.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced environment with a deep understanding and passion for the food industry.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Benefits:
- Salary: Circa £65,000, depending on experience.
- Permanent employment.
- Location: London.
- Standard working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm.
- Holiday entitlement: 20 days per annum.
