Overview
This is an opportunity to a billion-pound food business with a 100-year history. You will play a key role at their Leeds site by leading the site-based technical team in developing and executing a robust technical strategy. At the same time, you will foster internal and external relationships to drive technical excellence.
The Role
- Develop and maintain a the QMS.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and stay updated on food laws and guidelines.
- Manage HACCP systems, internal audits, and non-conformance trends.
- Oversee Pest Control contracts and support new product development.
- Implement microbial sampling plans and manage laboratory contracts.
- Ensure calibration, validation, and traceability systems comply with standards.
- Conduct technical risk assessments and manage suspect raw materials.
- Manage customer complaints and product certifications.
- Coordinate site audits/visits and engage with customers for quality improvement.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish data management systems for monitoring site KPIs.
- Attend site meetings and communicate trends for driving improvements.
- Develop a Quality Culture across the site.
- Identify and fulfil technical training requirements.
- Manage performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.
The Candidate
- Experience in the food industry.
- Ideally a degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline.
- Strong team player with effective communication skills.
- Proactive decision-maker with a focus on delivering results.
- Ability to manage KPIs, drive improvements, and prioritize customer focus.
