Job Title: FSQ Manager

Salary: Up to £50,000 DOE
Working Hours: Monday – Friday

About the Role:

Looking for a role that balances responsibility with a manageable workload? Our client, a respected food manufacturer based in Edmonton, is seeking an FSQ Manager to oversee their food safety and quality operations. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to step up from a Quality Manager role or is looking for a less demanding yet rewarding position.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading Food Safety and Quality: You’ll be the go-to person for all things food safety and quality, ensuring the company maintains its high standards without the pressure of BRC accreditation. Your focus will be on maintaining SALSA standards, which are rigorous yet more straightforward to manage.
  • Managing Compliance: You’ll oversee compliance with all relevant food safety regulations, but without the added stress of retailer audits. This means you’ll have the freedom to focus on maintaining and improving quality without the constant pressure of external audits.
  • Streamlining Processes: With fewer external demands, you’ll have the opportunity to streamline existing processes and implement best practices that make sense for the business. Your role will involve making sure everything runs smoothly, but with the flexibility to innovate and improve where you see fit.
  • Team Leadership: You’ll lead and mentor a small, dedicated team, guiding them in best practices and ensuring they’re equipped to maintain the company’s standards. It’s a chance to build a team that’s just as committed to quality as you are, but without the overwhelming challenges seen in larger, more heavily audited environments.

Why This Role is Manageable:

  1. No BRC Pressure: Unlike many roles in food manufacturing, this position doesn’t require you to maintain BRC accreditation. This significantly reduces the stress and time associated with meeting those extensive standards.
  2. No Retailer Audits: The company isn’t subject to audits from major retailers, meaning you won’t have to constantly prepare for or undergo these intense reviews. Instead, you can focus on maintaining internal standards and improving where it counts.
  3. Focus on SALSA: You’ll be working within SALSA standards, which are designed for smaller producers. This means the role is still critical but less complex, making it ideal if you’re looking for a position that’s both important and manageable.

Who This Role is Perfect For:

  • Aspiring Leaders: If you’re a Quality Manager looking to step up into a role where you’re the lead technical person on site, this is your chance. You’ll have the autonomy and authority to make key decisions and shape the future of the company’s food safety and quality processes.
  • Professionals Seeking Balance: If you’ve been in high-pressure roles before and are now looking for a position that offers a better work-life balance while still allowing you to make a meaningful impact, this role offers exactly that. It’s challenging enough to keep you engaged, but without the constant stress of more heavily regulated environments.
