Three weeks ago, the owner of this business turned down a chunk of Tesco own label business. Because “If they’re going to come in and tell us how to run our factory, well – I just don’t need that stress. We just don’t need that stress”.

How unusual is that?

When companies talk about work life balance, it often has the slight whiff of BS. This doesn’t. The site lead is responsible for operations and food safety. You need to know food safety, so you’ve probably been a technical manager or got some qualifications.

You’re running the site, but it’s a small site.

If you’re driven and intent on climbing the corporate ladder, become a master of the universe, and getting a corner office in some swanky city centre high rise – this isn’t for you.

If you want a home where you can do a great job but actually keep your free time for yourself, this is probably a great role.

About the Role:

  • Lead a small, friendly team in a stable food manufacturing company.
  • Ensure smooth daily operations, prioritizing quality, customer satisfaction, and food safety.
  • Oversee all aspects of production, from raw materials to finished products.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage production scheduling and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Implement and enforce strict food safety protocols (HACCP preferred).
  • Maintain high-quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Recruit, train, and motivate a team of factory personnel.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience in food or drink manufacturing.
  • Experience working in a small, friendly environment.
  • Good understanding of food safety regulations.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to make a real impact in a growing company.
  • Relaxed and friendly work environment.
  • Strong focus on work-life balance.
