A leader in their field, the company provides end to end solutions across a large number of sectors.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to join the team at the company’s Greater Manchester site, reporting to the Operations Director.
The Engineering Manager is responsible for managing, improving and driving forward all engineering and maintenance aspects of the Manchester business
Main Duties:
- Drive the achievement of efficient performance of the maintenance department through effective line management and personal activity
- Lead the team and manage according to the company’s leadership standards, fostering a high performance culture
- Develop and manage the preventative maintenance system and support budget adherence to provide machine reliability
- Contribute ideas/vision to enhance the efficiency of the business including advising Senior Management on production requirements and potential capital investment
- Support the plan of workload and set priorities for maintenance and contract personnel
- Ensure a zero tolerance to unsafe practices is enforced
- Ensure excellent maintenance relations and efficient supplier relationships
- Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets are achieved
- Maintain housekeeping standards of the highest level
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
- Apprenticeship trained/HNC qualification in an electrical discipline
- Ability to be both hands on and a leader at the same time
- Demonstrates key understanding of manufacturing needs in relation to efficiencies, quality and budgets
- Ability to manage budgets within cost parameters
- Carries sufficient credibility and gravitas when dealing with business
- Good analytical skills with experience of sound decision making
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to clearly recommend action to senior management
- Must be an effective “self-starter”
- Demonstrated experience of, and positive attitude to change management
- Effective and positive communicator, demonstrating empathy and patience where appropriate
